SRCC REFLECTIONS AND PARTY!
Over the past year, the Science Research and Competition Club (SRCC) has made remarkable progress in its mission to engage students with a passion for biotechnology, the environment, and STEM in academic competitions and student group-designed projects.
In just one year, our membership skyrocketed from three to over twenty-five members. More volunteers seemed to flood in and our project has spread to an astounding amount of students. Our club meetings became exciting hubs of discussion, where members were freely able to share their ideas, work on projects together, and prepare for upcoming competitions. It was inspiring to see so many motivated students coming together to learn and grow. One of our proudest moments was our participation in the Conrad Challenge, an international competition that challenges students to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. Our team poured hours into our project, Ecoverse, an online e-commerce platform with a focus on sustainability. When we learned that we had been named semi-finalists and won the “Innovator Award,” it was a moment of pure joy and validation. Our hard work had paid off, and we had proven that with determination and teamwork, anything is possible. We also had the privilege of working with other nonprofits, such as MD Human Society, Boys Scouts of America, and countless other nonprofit organizations to address pressing social and environmental issues. These collaborations allowed us to broaden our reach.
After our successful Conrad Challenge experience and being awarded the Innovator Award, we decided to celebrate. To attract more attention to our club and provide a memorable bonding experience for our team, we purchased boxes of doughnuts. The sight of those delicious treats brought surprise and joy to the faces of our friends and teachers.
The day we celebrated with doughnuts turned out to be a great day for the SRCC. Our members were grateful for the opportunity to share in this experience and build stronger relationships within our club. It was a reminder of the importance of celebration and teamwork, and we look forward to continuing our journey of innovation and social impact.
On a related note, we are currently waiting for the results of the Scholastic Writing Competition, which aligns with SRCC's focus on science and STEM. In addition, our members have started participating in the National Ocean Awareness Competition, another event that ties in with our club's objectives. We're excited to see how we fare in these competitions and are eager to take on more challenges in the future before the school year ends.
