JUNIOR MOONSHOTS BEHIND THE SCENES
The term "Junior Moonshots" may not ring a bell for many, but for those who've had the chance to experience it firsthand, the concept is truly transformative. As someone who's been deeply involved in the project, I'm thrilled to share the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating these unique learning experiences for students and fostering a stronger community spirit. When I first began my journey with Junior Moonshots, my goal was to create a program that would not only provide educational opportunities but also cultivate a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among participants. To make this dream a reality, I knew I had to start by finding the perfect location for our sessions. After scouring various spaces in my area, I finally settled on a venue that offered ample room and the right ambiance for our program. The name "Junior Moonshots" was inspired by my own name, Austin Moon, as well as my passion for helping children. I believed that a moonshot was a fun, unique, and positive word that could describe the activities and those who were participating.Once the location was secured, it was time to bring my vision to life. With help from my parents and mentors like Ms. Gutierrez, the Vice President of the BBBS Foundation, we began working tirelessly on creating a comprehensive program that would cater to the diverse interests and learning styles of our participants. This included crafting engaging word puzzles and worksheets, designing unique posters and flyers to advertise the program, and even devising an adaptive system that would allow us to accommodate students with various special needs. In addition to this, I was responsible for managing all the food and drinks for our sessions, communicating with parents and new students joining the program, and ensuring everything ran smoothly on a daily basis.Looking back on these experiences, it's clear that the success of Junior Moonshots wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of my parents and Ms. Gutierrez. Their guidance and encouragement were instrumental in helping me overcome any challenges that arose during the creation and implementation of the program. Moreover, I also had the opportunity to channel my passion for community service into raising funds for BBBS. Through a series of bake sales and classical music benefit concerts, I managed to raise over $2000+ for the foundation. This included creating a ticketing system for the ticket booth, designing unique posters and promotional materials for the events, and even composing original music for the concerts.Looking back on these experiences, it's clear that the success of Junior Moonshots and my fundraising efforts wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of my parents, mentors like Ms. Gutierrez, and the entire BBBS community. Their guidance, encouragement, and belief in me have made all the difference, and I am incredibly grateful for everything they have done to help me achieve my dreams.
