JUNIOR MOONSHOTS IMPACT
After contacting Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area (BBBS), I founded Junior Moonshots, a free soccer and science program for the children of the BBBS community. The program allowed them to have fun while learning about science concepts. By combining a sport with an academic subject, we were able to engage children and make personal connections with them. Many of the children experienced familial issues and were encountering these subjects for the first time. Through this program, SRCC members contributed to a significant cause.
Through Junior Moonshots, we have provided more than four free soccer and science sessions for children in the BBBS community. It was heartwarming to see the kids' enthusiasm as they learned about science concepts and bonded with their peers on the soccer field. We knew we were making a difference in their lives, and that was incredibly rewarding. Currently, we are planning to hold another Junior Moonshots Session on February 25th, 2024.
In addition to our community outreach efforts, we also organized several cultural and charity events throughout the year. One highlight was our classical music benefit concert, which raised over $2000 for the BBBS community. The concert was a testament to the power of music to bring people together for a good cause. We were grateful for the support of our members and the broader community, who came out to enjoy the music and show their support for our mission.
We're excited to build on the momentum of 2023 and continue our mission of inspiring and empowering the next generation of scientists, innovators, and changemakers. Thank you to everyone who has supported SRCC!
